Scour around piles, foundations and underwater structures can alter asset support conditions and increase infrastructure risk. Conventional surveys provide valuable snapshots, but significant change can occur between survey intervals.

 

CERNOS SMS provides autonomous, repeatable monitoring of seabed conditions and alerts stakeholders when scour volume or profile changes exceed defined thresholds.

How CERNOS SMS works

A high-resolution sonar scans the surrounding seabed across a radius of up to 100 metres and through 360 degrees. Edge-processing technology converts the sonar data into periodic 3D seabed models. Each new scan is compared against an established baseline to identify changes in scour volume or seabed profile.

 

When a client-defined threshold is breached, nominated stakeholders receive an email and SMS notification, including a link to download the latest model for detailed office-based assessment.
